Heat was high in Thessaloniki during Sunday, April 8th but the weather had nothing to do with it… Driftwars was in town! Let’s have a look at the tyre smoking part.
The new track layout for this year’s northern events made everything the drivers knew from the previous years completely worthless. The teams had to reset the cars and start everything from scratch. By watching the practice sessions from the judges booth, I could tell that the driver’s level was pretty high and they got used of the new “loop” almost immediately.
The speed before the first corner averaged 94 km\h, that’s pretty high considering that “The Drive Park” is a kart track and runways are very limited.
A couple of frames later, the car disappears beneath the smoke !
Yeap ! Pretty much the last visible frame for this shot too.
This supercharged Starlet is about to be sucked into a “drift nebula”
Despite its orbit, the Starlet got out of the nebula, mission accomplished! Ground control to major Tom…
No he is not spinning out of the track !
He is just using his wide angle to take advantage of every tarmac inch for the track.
Street legal guys raised the stakes for 2012 !
Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
Watch this Munich queen doing it the Jap way!
Nickos “the Driftboy” Kouroupis’ refreshed ride made it to the 4th place…
…While fighting awesome battles against the evil Bimmers..
This red BMW driven by George Christodoulou finished 3rd.
The fight for first place: Harkas Anastasios driving the blue BMW versus Tsilimbonis George with his white one.
Harkas took the lead but i have to admit it was a very close race.
The Podium drivers gave an awesome -triple pass (we’re told we can’t say threesome here…) – show at the end of the race.
This year’s layout made the event much more exciting and the drivers responded positively to the change. They took the challenge and started doing what they know best without hesitation!
